The Offshoots: Bio

Hi! Glad you're "here". We're The Offshoots, a band from Bellingham, WA, super excited about our new cd, Room to Grow, 15 world class songs, straight from our loving hearts, goofy minds and independent spirits. We play strong, rocking, funky, quirky, upbeat songs and hope you can catch the infectious joy from our delivery.

We have been playing together in one form or another for several decades.  Vocalist Beth and her husband guitarist Paul Schramer met in a band post-college , moved west and played in The Ducks, infamous northwest party band with keyboardist Tim Kraft. Tim, Paul, Beth and Paul's brother bassist Mark Schramer all played for over a decade in the Redux. Paul and Beth became a songwriting team a couple of years ago, after years of loving and covering others' tunes, and formed The Offshoots.  Drummer extraordinaire Phil Carter joined them and they coalesced happily and began performing locally.

Beth has heard this question about ten thousand times, "Where do you get your energy?" She gets it from giving it! Beth aka Bunky dances and sings full-out onstage and off and loves loves loves to rock out! She is a sappy, hammy, fiercely loving force of nature. and has delighted thousands of fans over the years.

Paul plays energetic lead guitar with a searing devotion to serving each song with delicious intensity. He reminds us of songs we bonded to in our youth, yet has originality and inventiveness that give him a unique sound.

Mark has played bass in many genres, and adds strength and stability, funk and fun to the music. He is also the greatest guy in the universe and the best bandmate ever!  Who ever heard of a bass player who arrives promptly, never complains, and is always kind and helpful? Well now you have!

Phil is a dream drummer, having played funk, rock, metal, and soul in many Northwest top bands like Scary Monster and the Supercreeps, Problem Child, and the JB Quintet.  He has taste, talent and a fantastic ear!

Tim Kraft is our upbeat, smooth crooning, atmospheric keyboard player who gives us depth of harmony.  You can get a feel for his eclectic sense of humor in his tune Missing You, and also his big hearted approach to life and music. And no Tim, you DO NOT look like a seventy year old lesbian. You only wish you do!

SO that's us, but get to know us better by getting on the mailing list, getting your copy of Room to Grow and we'll see you around if you are Pacific Northwesterner's.  If not, love to love you anyway! We are hoping these songs will catch fire around the globe! Rock and roll is such a universal language, we hope you'll find moments of  light and energy and fun in our tunes!!!
